Fight or Flight (2018)
H. Masacz is a UK-based painter. She is currently working on a new series, Anima- Occupying Space. This body of work directly engages with the social theories of Helen Rosenau, exploring the tension between historical archetypes and autonomous female expression. By using traditional compositional structures, mythological allegories as metaphors, and rich symbolism, the paintings intentionally enter the historic domain of the patriarchal ‘Type.’ However, by anchoring these figures with deep psychological interiority, the exhibition documents a vital transition toward an uncontained, individual ‘Personality.’ These works confront the historical exclusion of women in art, uncovering an alternative lineage built on female labour and strategic defiance, while demanding an urgent shift toward an industry where women artists finally hold an equal stake and equal opportunities today. ANIMA-Occupying Space a Solo exhibition in Hampstead with Zebra One Gallery 22nd October - 5th November 2026.
